ACCA Prague Club Evening: Accounting Outsourcing - Pros and Cons
Lecturer: Tomáš Frkal (Managing Director, Process Solutions s.r.o.)
26 Jan 2010, Hotel Christie, Vladislavova 20, Prague

The presentation was given by Tomáš Frkal from Process Solutions in Prague, company providing outsourced accounting, reporting, payroll and tax compliance services. Tomáš has tax advisory background he previously worked in BIG5, Eurotel and RWE in tax as well as in treasury.

His presentation examined advantages and driving factors for outsourcing of accounting functions including statutory or international reporting. This part for example covered outsourcing drivers as lack of expertise, floating demand for personnel, reduction of management costs, costs restructuring (CAPEX to OPEX, fix to variable) and focus on core business.

The presentation also analyzed the limitations and inhibitors of outsourcing. This part touched on outsourcing risks as security, independence and control, underestimation of costs, loss of expertise and low quality caused by supplier opportunism or poor communication. Tomáš also outlined costs efficiency analysis which should be part of a pre-outsourcing preparation. As a successful change from in-sourced to out-sourced accounting significantly depends on the right choice of contracting partner the presentation also covered this topic.

Healthcare reform – Proposals for the preparation and the successful adaptation
Authors: János Babos , István Gyüre
Published: IME VI./ 2 (2007) p. 26-30   Publisher: Larix Kiadó
In this paper the authors offer useful and proven methods for healthcare organizations in order to help their successful preparation for and adaptation to the comprehensive system reform. The authors' suggestions emphasize the crucial role of „thinking in system“ for strengthening the role of the regional and functional co-operation instead of the strategy of competition.
Finally, the authors propose a (virtual) organisational and operational model which can support the co-operating healthcare organizations in increasing their competitiveness in the new era of the transformed healthcare system.    (
